Congrats to Lauren for NASA/Nevada Space Grant Fellowship!

Congratulations to Lauren Phillips for snagging a Nevada Space grant Consortium fellowship to use #UAS and #satellite data to characterize vegetation structure for #wildlife applications.

In this work, Laurent will be looking at both vertical and horizontal vegetation structure, both key variables for many ecological applications. She will be linking and comparing drone-based observations (focusing on vertical structure) with satellite observations (focusing on horizontal structure and image texture. The ultimate goal is to improve habitat characterization for species that use riparian areas, such as the endangered Southwestern Willow Flycatcher, which is a focus of her dissertation.
